The MLS NEXT Academy Division is an elite player development platform designed to provide ambitious young footballers with the environment, competition and support needed to reach their highest potential. Launched for the 2025 to 2026 season, the Academy Division has expanded the MLS NEXT pathway to more than 230 clubs and approximately 25,000 players across North America, creating one of the largest elite youth development platforms in the game.

Players compete in a regionally focused regular season while benefiting from elite coaching standards, high performance training and nationally recognised competition. Throughout the season, Academy Division clubs compete in regional conferences, MLS NEXT Cup Qualifiers, MLS NEXT Fest and MLS NEXT Cup, creating valuable opportunities for long term development and exposure to college, professional and national team scouts.

The MLS NEXT Allstate Homegrown Division represents the highest level of youth player development in North America, bringing together 152 clubs and more than 17,000 of the continent's top players, including every MLS academy and the nation's leading MLS NEXT Elite Academies. It sets the benchmark for elite competition, professional standards and long term player development.
Compete on the Biggest Stage
Homegrown Division clubs compete in a ten month professional style season alongside the most prestigious events in North American youth football, including MLS NEXT Fest, Generation adidas Cup, MLS NEXT Flex and MLS NEXT Cup. These competitions provide players with consistent elite opposition while creating opportunities to be identified by college coaches, professional clubs and national team scouts.
